Product Marketing Versus Brand Marketing
What is the difference between product marketing versus brand marketing? Are there any? To know more about these two, keep on reading below.
Product Marketing Versus Brand Marketing
To begin, product marketing refers to the process of creating, communicating, and delivering the value of products to customers. It involves the planning, implementation, and integration of various marketing activities that focus specifically on individual products or services. These services may be manufactured by the company itself, or by other companies.
Then, brand marketing refers to the process of creating and managing the value of a brand. Branding can be done internally or externally. What is important is that it is the primary tool in creating and communicating the value of products or services.
Product Marketing Activities
Product marketing focuses on meeting customer needs effectively. Its activities include:
1) Product Planning. It begins with product planning in which the company plans to offer specific products or services to its target market. This is where they develop and outline the product’s features, functions, and benefits. Those that will help meet the needs of their customers.
2) Product Research. Once they have planned out what their product is going to be and what it will offer, the next step is to learn more about it through research. In this process, they determine exactly what their consumers are looking for in a product. They also determine what their competitors are offering to find any possible gaps in the market for themselves.
3) Product Development. Then, after a company has decided on what it wants to offer, it moves on to developing it into a real product. This process involves testing and improving the product until it meets all of its requirements and standards. As well as those set by its consumers.
4) Product Launch. Finally, once a company has developed its product, they launch it into the market. So that they can sell it to their target audience.
Brand Marketing Activities
When it comes to brand marketing, the company focuses on creating value for its brand. This can be done through a few different things. Here are some activities of brand marketing:
1) Brand Protection. This is where the company protects its brand from any negative effects caused by competitors, the government, or the general public. This is done by following all regulations set by these parties and making sure consumers are not confused or misled in any way.
2) Brand Enhancement. Another activity in brand marketing focuses on enhancing the value of the brand through advertising and promotion efforts. Then, the company works to increase awareness of its brand and make it more appealing to its target audience.
3) Brand Extension. This is where companies extend their brand beyond their core business into new markets and products. They do this to increase brand awareness and gain more exposure to other audiences with similar interests and values as their original target audience.
4) Brand Management. Finally, after a company has created value for its brand, they manage it effectively so that it can keep it strong over time.
